Born in Nebraska and raised in Chester County, PA, Ben vanSteenburgh studied art at Lafayette College and the New York School of Visual Arts. Ben has recently moved to Lake County, CA from Pennsylvania.
Ben vanSteenburgh has worked with several major publishing houses doing published book covers, internal book illustrations and original stories including:
As well as illustration and fine art, Ben has worked extensively in the field of portraiture and has completed more than 80 commissioned portraits including President Clinton with his daughter Chelsea (currently hanging in Clinton’s NY office)
Ben’s fine-art work has been displayed across the U.S. in galleries e.g., Nancy Hoffman Gallery in SoHo NY, Penndragon Gallery in Annapolis, Chaddsford Gallery in PA. He is currently exhibiting in his gallery, the Painted Bird in Kelseyville.
Ben has recently moved to Lake County CA influencing the creation of the “White Pelicans”, “Herons”, “Horses”, “Ravens” and gold leaf Kano screens. Other series shown are “Yoga Women”, “Angels” and “Golden Girls”
Ben has created several local murals including several ONLY THE BRAVE murals as an homage to our first responders, and the AIRPLANE mural in Lakeport
